Family Law
Our practice provides the peace of mind in navigating clients through stressful family law-related matters, such as:

Divorce. When a party wishes to terminate their marriage, they may file a complaint for divorce. Divorces can be complicated and lengthy. However, many divorces resolve with an agreement.
Dissolution. When two parties decide to end their marriage, you may do so by way of a dissolution. A dissolution has the same effect of a divorce in that they both terminate the marriage. However, a dissolution warrants minimal court involvement and is possible when the parties are able to reach an agreement on all matters of their marriage. Even when parties do not get along, a dissolution may still be possible, with the help of an experienced attorney.

Spousal Support. In a divorce or dissolution where there is a disparity in income or earning potential, spousal support may be awarded to a party. In Clark County and most surrounding counties, there is no standard calculation that is implemented like in other Ohio courts. However, the courts do apply a set of factors in determining whether support should be awarded, how much and for how long.

Custody and Shared Parenting. In cases involving children, it is necessary to allocate custody and parenting time, through an order from the court. In some cases, shared parenting is appropriate. Regardless of whether the outcome is custody or shared parenting, a detailed plan is necessary to address specific issues relating to the child(ren). These issues include parenting schedules, transportation, medical expenses, child support, and more. Each plan should be specific to the needs of each child and their parents/caregivers.

Children's Services ("CPS"). In Ohio, Children's Services, also referred to as "CPS" can open a case and make a removal of a child. The procedure in these cases are different from other family law matters, and often very frustrating to navigate without an attorney.

Grandparent Rights. In Ohio, grandparents have rights in some cases, such as rights to custody of their grandchildren or visitation with their grandchildren. These rights are utilized more often in recent years, in Ohio.

Child Support. Whether child support needs to be established for the first time, or modified, our law firm can provide accurate child support calculations. The laws regarding child support in Ohio are ever changing, and those laws currently provide several factors that permit an obligor or obligee to modify support. It is also important to know that sometimes it may not be beneficial to modify support even if a party is able to do so.

Prenuptial Agreements. Prior to marriage, it is wise to discuss with an attorney whether a prenuptial agreement is appropriate prior to your wedding. A prenuptial agreement could protect you from an expensive, long divorce later.
Adoptions
Our firm can assist with several types of adoptions, such as:

Agency Adoptions. These are adoptions where the adoptive parents have been placed with a child through an adoption agency or through the state foster care system.

Step-Parent Adoptions. This includes same-sex parents.

Adult Adoptions. While the adoption of an adult is less common, there are many situations where they are appropriate.
Estate Planning
The simplest way to protect your legacy after you pass is to hire a professional to provide a comprehensive analysis of the most efficient method of preserving your worth for the cherished ones you leave behind. Estate planning involves Wills, living wills, powers of attorney for healthcare and financial purposes, revocable and irrevocable trusts, beneficiary designations, transfer of death affidavits, and additional documents depending on each situation. With proper estate planning advice, your legacy should pass on to your loved ones in such a way so to minimize stress and confusion. It is never too early to execute documents protecting your estate. Life events such as childbirth, family turmoil, divorce, re-marriage, should warrant a review of your estate planning documents to ensure that all of your assets go to where you wish when you pass.
